The Sikkim Board of Open Schooling and Examination (SBOSE) follows a flexible and learner-centric examination system designed to promote quality education through open and distance learning.
1️⃣ Examination Pattern
Examinations are conducted twice a year — June and December sessions.
Students can appear for subjects as per their learning readiness.
Both Theory and Practical examinations (where applicable) will be conducted.
Component Weightage
Theory Examination 80%
Practical / Internal Assessment 20%
(Weightage may vary based on subject requirements)
2️⃣ Mode of Examination
Offline (Pen & Paper Based) examinations at designated centres.
Question paper includes:
Objective type (MCQ)
Short Answer Questions
Long Answer Questions
3️⃣ Passing Criteria
Minimum 33% marks required in each subject.
Separate passing in Theory and Practical is mandatory (if applicable).
Best performance system available — students can re-appear to improve results.
4️⃣ Credit Transfer & Flexibility
Students failing in any other recognized board can transfer credits (as per eligibility).
Learners can appear for maximum subjects in one sitting or spread over sessions.
5️⃣ Result & Certification
Results published on the official website.
Successful candidates are awarded a Nationally Recognized (as per guidelines) Certificate/Diploma by SBOSE.
